The movie and popcorn and pizza meeting for March was fun! I hope you were inspired by those Northwest gardens and especially those gardeners.
As mentioned last month, MVPS is busy with its projects and with being active in the Chuckanut District’s events. ‘Mount Vernon in Bloom’ is starting its big push this month by having our team of MVPS volunteers go door-to-door with fliers and entry forms for entering the contest. Read about it on our MVPS website from the Home Page.
MVPS at Tulip Festival Street Fair – April 17,18,19, where we will have a booth to sell plants as a fundraiser and to promote “Mount Vernon in Bloom”.
We will do some more potting of seedlings on March 27 for this sale.
Chuckanut District’s Spring Soir’ee – Monday, April 27 - where we’ll be bringing our Glass Garden Art. Be sure to participate in the April meeting to make these. Should be lots of fun, and DON’T MISS THE SOIR’EE. Really Great Fun! Tickets are available from Gerry Douglas, an MVPS member and our District Director, at chuckanut@clearwire.net
MVPS Bloomsday Sale – Saturday, May 2 – where we will again have our annual plant sale as one of our main fundraisers.
And Finally: MVPS’s “Mount Vernon in Bloom” – our Summer Color Competition for all Mount Vernon residents & businesses to promote civic beautification. A lot of our fundraising monies go toward printing costs for this event. We will be canvassing Mount Vernon residents in March to prompt them to participate in this Free, Fun and Enlightening journey to see the best gardens of Mount Vernon. We can use all MVPS members to get the word out!
The biggest event we will all want to participate in from now until August is the District’s “Summer Garden Gala”. This is the largest event that our District has put on in over 20 years!
