| The DELL RAPIDS GARDEN CLUB was organized in 1932, and has been a charter member of the South Dakota Federation of Garden Clubs State Home since 1943. The Dell Rapids Garden Club has also been a member of the National Garden Clubs, Inc (formerly the National Council of State Garden Clubs) since 1944, and is a member of the Rocky Mountain Region National Garden Clubs, Inc- N.G.C. Since 1959, the Dell Rapids Garden Club has been a member of SDFGC, Inc. District V . | | The DELL RAPIDS GARDEN CLUB supports local, state, and national goals and works closely with the community in many projects and activities. Some of the local activities promote garden therapy at the nursing homes. Beautification and civic development are promoted through bulb and plant sales, through planting and caring for flowers in the city park and at the Dells of the Sioux Scenic Trail, and an area Habitat for Humanity project. The garden club promotes conservation with youth in addition to numerous other projects and activities. | | On the state level, the DELL RAPIDS GARDEN CLUB supports the SDFGC,Inc. scholarship fund which provides scholarships at both South Dakota State University and Southeast Technical Institute in Sioux Falls. The Dell Rapids Garden Club also supports the Butterfly Garden at the Outdoor Campus in Sertoma Park, Sioux Falls. Past support has included sponsorship of the Rose Garden and Butterfly Garden at McCrory Gardens in Brookings. During 1999-2001, the Dell Rapids Garden Club has supported projects of the Rocky Mountain Region and the National President's Project which is the Butterfly Garden in the U.S. Botanic Garden in Washington, DC. |
