May 27, 2008  1:00 p.m.
Program:
Growing Herbs in Containers.  Nancy Heraud, Glenshaw herbalist, will discuss the benefits, use and delight of growing container herbs.  Learn how to enjoy herbs in pots, especially for those challenged by space and soil conditions.

June 24, 2008  6:00 p.m.
Dinner: Home of Della Leslie Griffiths. 1824 Village Road, Glenshaw.  Solstice supper and Garden Party.  Members will bring an herbal dish to share.  Culinary sign-ups with the hostess committee, please.  Hats and gloves are optional.

July 22, 2008  6:30 p.m.
Meeting: Village at Hampton Fields.  4480 Mount Royal Blvd. at Route 8, Hampton
Program: Flower Show.  Share the beauty of your flower garden by bringing a floral arrangement to be judged by the residents of the Village.  Prizes will be awarded.

August 26, 2008  7:00 p.m.
Meeting: Shaler North Hills Library. Program and Refreshments.
Program: Butterflies: Pretty Pollinators and Pillaging Caterpillars.  Naturalist Chuck Teague will present a photo essay of the beautiful and diverse butterflies of Western Pennsylvania and their relationship to plants both wild and cultivated.

September 23, 2008  1:00 p.m.
Meeting: Church of Our Savior program.
Program: Basic Flower Arranging.  Learn the skills to create beautiful flower arrangements.  Marry Buckley, former member of SGC and arranger extraordinaire, will teach us how.

October 28, 2008  10:00 a.m.
Meeting: Beechwood Farms and Nature Reserve Education Building, Dorseyville Road, Indiana Township.
Program: The American Chestnut: History, Decline and Reforestation.  Bill Lord, retired veterinarian and member of ACF, will explore the importance of the American Chestnut, it's passing with the blight and the efforts of the American Chestnut Federation to restore blight resistant trees to our forests.

December 2, 2008
12:00 p.m. Lunch: Covered Dish Luncheon.  Church of Our Savior
1:00 p.m.  Program: Installation of new officers followed by an ornament exchange.

Field Trips:

May 20, 2008  10:00 a.m.
Rachel Carson Homestead, Springsdale. Tour of facility. Admission - $5.00 and $3.00 for Senior Citizens.  Lunch/Tea follow at Alexandra's Tea Room, Springsdale.  Details to follow.  There will be a carpool.

July 12, 2008   10:00 a.m.
Garden Tour "Color in the Garden".  Home of Lynn Purse, McCandless.  Writer and photographer of gardens for 20 years, Lynn has lectured across the country on garden design.  Carpool will depart at 9:30 a.m. from the former Foodland parking lot on Mount Royal Blvd.

September/October  Time TBD.
Home of Davia Davis, Edgewood, PA.  Members will make decorative flowerpots.  Members should bring their own pots.  Davia will supply all other necessary materials.
