June 2009 Meeting Review

The Hood River Valley Evening Garden Club met on June 11th, at the home and gardens of out going Vice President Teddy Parkinson. Teddy's woodland estate is located just of shore of North Western lake in Washington state. The rose garden was stunning, with a beautiful yellow stealing the show. Some of Teddy's other garden features are the rock garden, fruit trees, and many peonies.
Pam Hegemann gave a program on growing and using Lavendar.
President Jennifer Harty called the meeting to order with 12 members in attendance. We got the OK from the Hood River County Historical Society for the 'Earth Kind' Rose Test Garden. Sod removal will take place soon, and project leader Susan Hayes passed around a sign up sheet for volunteers. We need people for soil amending, planting, and garden care.
Elections were held for the '09-'11 term, welcome our new officers- President Janis Gaylord, V.P. Pam Crider, Secterary Mellisa Bickle, and Treasurer Barbara Essex.
Our next meeting will be held at the Learning Garden on the OSU Extension Office in Hood River. Thursday July 9th at 6:30 pm. Hosts will be Jen and Florence. Please bring your own chair.
For more information contact Janis Gaylord.
