Community Beautification The herb garden at the Elisha Morgan Mansion was begun in 1999 and undergoes yearly maintenance from club members.
Planters for the new Fairfield High School were purchased in 1999 through donations solicited from the community by the club. Evergreen Trees and spring bulbs were added in 2004.
The Veterans Memorial Park hillside garden was begun in 2003 with donated plants from club members and friends. More is added each year with over 600 bulbs planted in the fall of 2004 in honor of Fairfield’s 50th Anniversary. City plans are now underway to extend the walk through the hillside garden.
2008 will mark the seventh year that the Elisha Morgan Mansion has been decorated for the Christmas season with ornaments, arrangements and wreaths made by club members. Scholarship Garden club money is donated to the Fairfield Community Foundation for scholarships and through our dues donations are given to the OAGC State Scholarship Foundation. Library Committee Project
Over the years the garden club had built up a nice collection of gardening books which was recently donated to the Lane Library in Fairfield. Each year the club encourages the community to expand their knowledge and love of gardening through purchasing additional books for the library. Four books were donated in 2008. Plant Sale Our annual plant sale is held the third Saturday in May from 9am-1pm at the Fairfield Amphitheater.
Proceeds from the sale benefit the community beautification projects and scholarship programs in the Fairfield, Ohio area. The community supports this event very well as buyers get reduced prices on many varieties of plants at the perfect time of year for planting.
