April 8, 2008 - Container Gardening
On Tuesday, April 8th, at 2:00 PM L.V.C.S. will present a program with Linn Mills speaking on "container gardening" and a general question & answer period. This will be at the garden club center at Lorenzi Park and everyone is welcome to attend. Please call Barbara at 459-4633 if you plan to attend so the club will have enough refreshments for everyone.
May 24, 2008 - Annual Plant Sale
L.V.C.S. will hold their annual plant sale on Saturday, May 24th, from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the garden club center at Lorenzi Park. This is the only place to purchase the large incurve and spider mums you see at the show. Along with the exhibition mums we will have garden and cushion varieties as well. If you made a list last year at the fall mum show don't forget to bring it along and find a member wearing their yellow shirts for help. Also pick up the information on growing mums that will be available at the sign in table.
November 22, 2008 - Annual All Chrysanthemum Flower Show
The Las Vegas Chrysanthemum Society will hold its annual all chrysanthemum Flower Show at the Nevada Garden Club Center on Saturday, November 22nd from 1:00 PM till 4:00 PM and Sunday, November 23rd from Noon till 4:00 PM.
You need not be a member of the Society to enter flowers in this show. Entries are accepted on Friday, November 21st from 2:00 PM till 5:00 PM and there will be members there to help you fill out entry cards and give you tips on how best to enter your mums. Mums may be entered as cut flowers, stems must be at least 16 to 20 inches long, or in containers, no size limits on containers. Not interested in showing your mums then just bring your camera and come and enjoy the wonderful blooms others have grown. Bring a pencil and take note of the flowers you will want to grow in your garden next year.
Chrysanthemums on a Fence wall hanging made by Irene Benac for the Las Vegas Chrysanthemum Society will be raffled off at the Chrysanthemum Flower Show on Sunday, November 23, 2008. Tickets are $1.00 each or a book of 12 for $10.00. Tickets may be purchased from any Chrysanthemum Society member or at the flower show. Winner need not be present to win.
