NGC Project 2009-2011 National Garden Clubs, Inc. President: Renee Blaschke “The World Around Us Love It-Beautify It-Protect It” Beautify Blight Clubs will partner within their communities with local leaders and an organized youth group (Girl & Boy Scouts, 4-H, School groups, Church Youth groups) to identify a blighted area within the community that can be developed into community gardening sites with emphasis placed on growing produce for food pantry’s, soup kitchens, homeless or to individuals who have downsized and no longer have space to garden. Beautify Blight Project Coordinators:
De Feldman & Candance Morgenstern RI Federation of Garden Club Golden Days Clubs will be asked to plant daffodils in pots to take to members who are now confined to their homes, assisted living, nursing homes or those who have felt the need to downsize their living quarters. The project can be expanded to plant daffodils at any of these facilities in mass, or at cemeteries, blue star memorial sites, public lands. NER will be raffling off Daffodil bulbs at our Annual meeting and the proceeds will be presented to the State that plants the most bulbs. Get your Trowels ready and PLANT! Nancy Donaldson The Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts Plant It Pink Raising funds and promoting awareness in support of Koman’s highly respected, multi-faceted activities in the fight against breast cancer. Demonstrating how a love of gardening can be translated into a full spectrum of projects that benefit the health and welfare of individuals, families, communities and the nation. Clubs are encouraged to plant pink gardens at hospitals, cancer centers, and memorial gardens, participate in garden therapy activities, offer pink flower show classes, and other activities that promote awareness of the fight against breast cancer. “Plant It Pink” is a partnership between NGC, Susan G. Koman for the Cure, Jon Carloftis, garden designer, and Louisville Stoneware. Plant it Pink Coordinator:
