The American Horticulture Society, at River Farm in Alexandria, Virginia, has given District II of Garden Clubs approximately 1000 square feet to build a ‘Children’s Discovery Butterfly’ garden. It is our dream to make the garden a child friendly space providing learning experiences as well as a place to have a fun time. Incorporating sustainable landscaping into the design, using natives and drought tolerant plants will be part of the plan. The ultimate wish is to have some sort of water feature and attractive seating such as a butterfly bench. Suggestions from the District II Garden Clubs are welcomed.
