Awakening - A Small Standard Flower Show

Members of Centennial Garden Club have been preparing for their Small Standard Flower Show - Awakening - to be held on March 12 - 14 at Manassas Clay in Old Town Manassas.  During one club meeting Creative Design was discussed and demonstrated.  At another meeting May Trucano demonstrated a small design while Becki Pendell demonstrated the same design, but to a larger scale.  The potters at Manassas Clay have invited Centennial to use their hand made pottery for their arrangements.  The Flower Show will be staged in the store among the pottery.

Arbor Day

Centennial Garden Club celebrated Arbor Day on April 25 by participating with the City of Manassas, Virginia, in the dedication of a Sweet Gum tree in honor of the students who lost their lives at Virginia Tech last year. The tree was chosen by the City of Manassas because of the wonderful maroon and orange colors it exhibits in the fall – Virginia Tech’s colors! Centennial Garden Club was recognized by Mayor Doug Waldron and the City of Manassas for its contribution. President Rebecca Pendell accepted a Commendation from the City in appreciation of that contribution from Mayor Waldron. In her thank you, President Pendell acknowledged that Centennial Garden Club has for 20+ years participated in Manassas’ Arbor Day celebration and further acknowledged it is one of the most important ways in which Centennial Garden Club contributes to the community!
