Letter from the Garden Clubs of Mississippi, Inc.
President, Ann G. Turnbow
It is a great honor for me to serve as the President of the Garden Clubs of Mississippi, Inc. My involvement in garden club work has given me the opportunity to appreciate the beauty of our state from the winding levees along the Mississippi River to the lush green pine forests that cover so much of our beautiful countryside. It has been my good fortune to visit in the historical homes and gardens that have been preserved and to learn through seminars and tours on the campuses of our outstanding schools and universities.
Our state and our people are strong, and farming and gardening are in our blood. Cotton, corn, and catfish are important products, but we also lovingly nurture our butterfly and wildflower gardens as well. Mississippians are a resilient lot. We were ravaged by Katrina and our Mississippi Gulf Coast devastated, but tremendous progress has been made and our garden clubs in the area are part of this rebirth of the coastal counties.
Let those of us in the Garden Clubs of Mississippi, Inc. work together and learn together with each other and with gardeners throughout the Deep South Region and the National Garden Clubs, Inc. to benefit our hometowns, states, regions, and country. Yes, I am proud to serve as the state president of the Garden Clubs of Mississippi, Inc. I am excited about the endless possibilities for the FUTURE of our organization and the FELLOWSHIP and FUN of working together as a group. Thank you for allowing me this wonderful experience.
