The Twin City Garden Club was organized in 1930 and federated in 1951. Community Service Projects
Twin City Garden Club members engage in a number of community service projects.
Each spring, club members hold a plant sale. The proceeds of this sale of perennials from our own gardens are used to fund Garden Clubs of Illinois, Inc. scholarships in horticulture and related fields, as well as other community service activities.
Twin City also sponsors a scholarship for Parkland College students majoring in agriculture or other horticulture-related fields.
Flower Arranging Classes
These informal classes, held at regular club meetings, provide instruction and hands-on practice in the art of flower arranging.
Programs
Our programs are provided by local horticulturalists, many from the University of Illinois. Each garden-related program is followed by a business meeting and refreshments.
Flower Shows
Biennial flower shows are arranged by the club. Both floral design and horticulture are shown. These shows are free and open to the public.
Membership
Membership in the club entitles you to a subscription to Garden Glories, a publication of The Garden Clubs of Illinois, Inc.
The club is a member of District IV, The Garden Clubs of Illinois, Inc., and of the Central Region of National Garden Clubs, Inc., headquartered in St. Louis, MO.
