It was great to see so many of you at our September meeting. I hope all of you enjoyed the program as much as I did. Isn’t it amazing what a difference some seeds and a few trees can make? It made me want to go out in my yard and plant more.
Speaking of planting more, I hope you have potted up the plant(s) that you are bringing for the prized perennial exchange for our October 2 meeting. Remember you should bring pictures of the plant in it’s glory, either a photo or picture from a garden catalogue. Also be prepared to say a few words about the plant, it’s light requirements, bloom time, etc.

November Meeting
The program will demonstrate how to sow seeds in recycled containers. You need to start collecting containers like milk or water bottles, plastic containers that are used for salads or leftovers, which are a few inches tall. The containers that rotisserie chickens come in are also good.
Craft Ideas
Our beautiful birdhouses sold very well at our perennial sale and helped us in our record sale. We need a new craft project so we can demonstrate our creative and artistic abilities again. We are looking for some ideas so if anyone has seen a cute garden craft item, please let me know.
Sweater
Janet is still looking for the owner of the white sweater that was left at her house when we had our 10 year party. Check your closets, with this cooler weather you maybe looking for a sweater.
Commemorative Stamps
Please collect all commemorative stamps you get and bring them to our monthly meetings. The Illinois Audubon Society collects sorts and sells stamps to raise funds for Sanctuary Land Acquisition for the purchase of Illinois Audubon Sanctuaries and to protect habitat for wildlife in Illinois. Ninety percent of its original wetlands and almost 100 percent of its original prairie has already been lost. This is an easy way to help the environment at no cost to you.
