Welcome to The Garden Club of Downers Grove. Our members are active in community gardening, garden therapy, a children's gardening program, horticultural and environmental scholarships, conservation and horticultural and environmental education. The club has designed and maintains The Gregg House Memorial Garden in Westmont,  the Blue Star Marker garden and the Elizabeth Rigsby Memorial Garden in the Main Street Cemetery, a garden in the Maple Grove Forest Preserve by the Veterans Memorial Monument, and a wildflower garden at the Downers Grove Historical Museum, a Downers Grove "Adopt a Park" site.

The garden club meets once a month in January, February, March, May, September and October on the third Monday at 12:30pm in the Lincoln Center, 935 Maple Avenue, Downers Grove, IL. An informative program follows the business meeting.

The garden club's scholarship fundraiser "A Festive Touch" is held the third Monday of November at the Carlisle in Lombard. In June we hold a potluck and members' plant sale and July and August find us touring local gardens.

A Standard Flower Show, "My Kind of Town - Chicago", was held on July 11, 2009.  Traditionally, a Standard Flower Show is held every other year.

During National Garden Week, the first week of June, the club co-hosts a garden topic program with the Downers Grove Library that is free to the public. This year's "Keep the Feathers Flying - Birds" program was presented by Robin Cronin of Wild Birds Unlimited in Lisle.

Our garden club of 74 members includes several who have been with the club for 40 years. We celebrate their dedication and love for gardening. Members of all ages are active in our many projects. We welcome you to attend a meeting and find out why we are so special.

We are a member of National Garden Clubs, Inc, Central Region, Garden Clubs of Illinois, Inc., District II.
