Our goals:
  • Foster a love of gardening within the club and community
  • Encourage the protection of native trees & flowers
  • Provide backyard habitat for birds & butterflies
The Bloomingdale Garden Club has enjoyed an exceptional history as it has been in continual existence since 1963. The Club was started by seven ardent gardeners in April of 1963 at the home of Mrs. A.H. McClure. The original secretary of the Club, Mrs. Grace Price, no longer a resident of Bloomingdale, still enjoys the friendships formed in the club’s early days.

Today the Club remains active in the community with monthly programs and meetings. The Garden Club plant sale – held annually in May – is now a solid event eagerly anticipated by the public, who await the arrival of the finest plants from Michigan to begin their gardens.

This plant sale yields much of the funding the Club uses for programs/speakers and charitable endeavors.

CHARITABLE COMMUNITY ENDEAVORS include The Marklund Home, Pet Rescue, Bloomingdale SeptemberFest Scholarship Fund, Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund, local food pantries and many other have benefited from the Garden Club’s generosity.
