Monticello, GA
Azalea District of The Garden Club of Georgia
The Monticello Garden Club was organized in May, 1896 and had its first meeting at the home of Mrs. Milton Benton in the center of the town of Monticello. This meeting was reported in the May 7, 1896, issue of the Jasper County News. There were 17 original members. From the old minutes "the object of the association will be to promote the cultivation of flowers, shrubs, and all plants which will tend to beautify the town - or anything else to improve the town."
