Well, that was Ivy from the past. It was called English Ivy, Hedera helix, or it could have been Irish Ivy, Hedera hibernica, which is used for a ground cover. Today Ivy is used as a wonderful houseplant or hanging baskets. Did you know it will live outside in baskets thru the winter and it will not shed leaves?  It makes a beautiful plant for your home. If you keep it in the house for a while and it doesn’t look too good, just take it outside and place it under a bush and wait a week or so and it will revive.
