A HISTORY OF THE DEPOT AREA IN GRAY
( (click on photo to enlarge)
Gray Garden Club planted dogwood trees in Gray in 1963. These remained until 1969.
In 1970, the Club voted to participate in the Jones County Beautification Contest. Mrs. Marguerite Anderson, recently deceased, was the Chairman of the project. The Club won first place in the county wide contest. Pictures are included of the “look” of the Depot area in the beginning and current pictures.
In 2001 GGC approved the revitalization of the Gray Station Depot ground. Todd Goulding, the Garden Guy, designed a plan which was approved in March. The City, County, businesses, private individuals were solicited for donations for resources, money and labor. With the cooperation of many individuals and businesses as well as the governments, the garden spot has been transformed into a beautiful area.
