The Floraphile Garden Club
On May 8th and 9th, 2009, the language of flowers will guide you along the paths
of Riverwalk, Cranford’s very own standard flower show. The title of this
event honors the winding river of Cranford and all the interesting
and unique landmarks bordering its banks.
The members of the three garden clubs of Cranford have been planning
this event for many months, eager to introduce the townspeople to the hidden
talents in our community. Cranford’s floral artisans will be presenting their
finest designs for display. The judged show will also reflect horticultural
excellence in home-grown plantings alongside professional and educational
displays. This presentation will take place free of charge to the
public on Friday, May 8, from 2 - 7pm and
Saturday, May 9, from 9am - 5pm in
Cranford’s Community Center on Walnut Avenue.
Williams-Sonoma Presents
On May 8th, attendees of the flower show will be treated to free
professional cooking techniques by a culinary expert from Williams-Sonoma.
Speaker: Cathy Miller, the White House Dried Flower Arranger
At 2:30 pm on May 9th, the garden clubs are honored to present
Cathy Miller: author, speaker, television personality and accomplished dried flower arranger. Her dried flower creations have graced the White House from the days of Carter and Reagan to (George H.W.) Bush. She will be sharing these exciting times with anecdotes from her time in the White House along with personal family stories. As the owner of a farm, Ms. Miller grows and harvests her own flowers for drying and arranging. This special presenter, with little effort, creates exquisite arrangements before your eyes while inducing much laughter along the way.
