The Village Garden Club of Andover
New Club Project
These are our goals:
Plant daffodils in Elm Green to promote the National Garden Club President’s Project, “Golden Days”.
Partner with Andover’s Community Gardens Advisory Committee in creating Community Vegetable gardens.
Work with the Esperanza Academy to develop a vegetable garden for the students, either on site or within the Lawrence community.
Current Projects
Club members arrange flowers for the 19 tables at Bread and Roses, a soup kitchen in Lawrence, MA. While club members previously designed flowers for the tables at Esperanza Academy, a middle school for low-income girls in Lawrence, the girls now make their own flower arrangements with materials provided by the club. Garden Club members regularly meet with the girls for horticulture, flower arranging, and craft projects. Members organize and create designs for Art in Bloom as an educational endeavor each fall and spring.
