soils, sloping terrain, color and texture in the shade,
low maintenance and fool-proof plants that look terrific
all year long.  Plastic aside, how should we start?
Sally is a landscape designer and is the GCFM
Chairman of Civic Development.
Her tips should help us
Make  good choices for the many –
and varied – civic planting
areas we maintain around town.

The Best Perennials Through the Four Seasons
with Pernell Gerver
This program shows how to create a successful and
beautiful perennial garden with new blooms each
season, including those for winter interest. Pernell’s
expertise will help you in choosing the right perennials
for your location. Pernell’s information will also help
with our civic planting choices…and perhaps surprise
townspeople with some hard-to-find perennials not
often seen.  Named “Gardener of the Year” by Organic
Gardening Magazine when only 18 years old, Pernell
has been host of television gardening segments, garden
columnist for newspapers, and is a judge at the
New England Flower Show.
