Joanne Nelson, President of Pompano Beach Garden Club 2009-2011
Welcome to our website! "Youth and Adults Growing Together" is this year's theme. Our main focus this year will be working and mentoring with children in our community to establish a Junior Garden Club. Our members will provide educational programs on horticulture, floral design, gardening and care of the environment around us. There will be a "Community Garden" located at the Pompano Beach Library where we will plant and maintain a vegetable garden this fall. Our vision is to have the Junior Garden Club participate in the District XI Youth Flower Show in March 2010. We are always looking for new members and welcome you to attend a General Meeting. Check out the dates and programs under "2009-2010 General Meetings and Programs." For more information about our club, contact our Membership Chairman at 954-943-8487.
2009-2010 Goals of the PBGC Focus on youth programs to educate in being caretakers of the earth’s environment. Encourage growth in membership and provide stimulating programs to keep our organization vital. Emphasize water conservation and preserve the quality of our water. Establish a community garden, divided into individual plots, which are planted and maintained by one person or a family. Encourage all members of the club to participate and support activities to make a difference united together. Encourage members to take advantage of classes put on by the club, district, state and national to plant the seeds of knowledge for growth.
