Arthur Burgess of LHP surprised his wife Gelsomina (Jo) on
Sunday  November 23rd with the dedication of a tree,
in her honor at Dixon Ahl Park.

Several friends and family members gathered
as Arthur explained  that he prefers to "honor" loved ones
 rather than "memorialize " them.

Inger Jones, President of Garden Club of LHP,
assisted Arthur with the project and
urges other LHP residents to honor their loved ones in
similar manner.
"We can never have enough trees." said Inger.
If you wish to plant a tree in "honor" or in "memory" of a loved one,
please contact
Inger Jones 954.942.9310

A luncheon followed at the Burgess home for

FACTS ABOUT BOTTLED WATER
Imagine Every Bottle of Water You Drink Half Filled With Oil …..That’s How Much of the Fuel is Used to Make the Bottle.  Fill it Over 3 More Times to Measure the Water Used.

Bottled water feels like a healthy choice, but it has hidden consequences for the environment.

United States’ residents drink more bottled water per person than any other country:  nearly 26 gallons each in 2005.

Bottled water costs as much as much as $10 per gallon, compared with less than a penny per gallon for tap water.

Worldwide, 2.7 million tons of plastic are used each year to make water bottles, but in the United States, less than 20 percent of that plastic is recycled.

Around the world, factories are using more than 18 million barrels of oil and up to 130 billion gallons of fresh water a year to create something that, by and large, most people don’t need.

An estimated 40 percent of bottled water sold in the United States is just filtered tap water.

Trees VS Billboards

"Palms may take a bow for billboard views"

The legislature is currently considering legislation prohibiting (and actually penalizing) counties, cities, garden clubs, beautification organizations (such as FFGC, Greenscape), etc. from planting trees, flowers, shrubs on the right-of-way if it will be in front of a billboard.
