Flower Shows
Flower Shows are the expression of the creativity and artistry of garden club members. Some garden clubs hold a flower show every year, in which members are encouraged to enter arrangements or horticulture exhibits.
To produce a flower show, the club must choose a location for the show, a chairman , and a theme. A schedule follows that theme, and defines all parts of the show. To qualify as a "Standard Show", it must follow guide lines provided by National Garden Clubs, Inc.:
1. The Standard Flower Show is put on by a member club of
the NGC.
2. It has a written schedule with at least 5 design classes, each
having at least 4 entries, and 5 or more horticulture classes.
3. The panels of 3 NGC judges use the NGC Standard System
of judging.
A Flower Show requires careful planning, and a lot of effort. But upon viewing the result, most will agree that it was worth it! Flower shows are open to the public.
