Continuing Projects
Patriotic Tree Planting in conjunction with the National Federation of Garden Clubs for National Arbor Day. The 1st Annual ceremony was held on April 28, 2007 at the Veterans’ Transitional Home, 36 Church Street, Ballston Spa.
April 26, 2008 – 2nd Annual Patriotic Tree
Planting at the VFW Post 358,
East North Street, Ballston Spa, NY at
11:00 AM. Master of Ceremonies will be
Marcie Fraser, Channel 9 News. There
will be a short ceremony to honor our
military, firefighters, police, emergency
corps and civilian heroes followed by
refreshments. The public is invited.
Heritage Day & Victorian Tea/Community Flower Show in conjunction with the Ballston Spa Business and Professional Association at the Brookside Museum.
June 8, 2008 – The club will serve tea and
invite the community to bring in flowers
to be viewed.
Maintain Garden: The club, along with a local Girl Scout Troup, maintain the Jim Tedesco Trailhead Garden at the Iron Spring in the Village of Ballston Spa.
Fall Craft Project: Each year the club puts together a craft or a table decoration for the Maplewood Manor Nursing Home in Ballston Spa.
Festival of Trees & Holiday Home Tour in conjunction with the Ballston Spa Victorian Christmas, usually the 1st weekend of December. The club makes holiday decorations &/or a decorated tree to be sold at a silent auction. The money is used for Village beautification. Club members are also hostesses at homes on the Home Tour.
Summer Garden Tour: The club, has hosted &/or helped with a tour of gardens in the Village of Ballston Spa.
Food Pantry: Club members regularly donate time and items for the local food pantry.
New Project
Maintaining the Flagpole Garden at the VFW, East North Street,
Ballston Spa. The VFW asked the garden club for assistance. At the May 8, 2008 meeting, the club voted unanimously to add this project.
