NEW PROJECTS

  1. Majority of Columbia Garden Club members will participate in the Columbia Garden Club Standard Flower Show at the Columbia Public Library.  Encourage members to participate in horticulture and design classes. Members and public to benefit. Carolyn Doyle & Mary Jane Wheeling co-chairs.

  2. Garden Tour of 5 member’s gardens, open to community guests and club members.  Obtain tour gardens, provide host and guests with tour information and maps.  Locations given on pg.18.  Members and guest benefit.  Betty Gladney, chair.

  3. Sponsor a Jr. Garden Club with Russell Blvd. Elementary School in Columbia, MO.  Form club, plan and present programs at club meetings.  CGC and youth members will benefit.  Linda Lowenberg & Marie Pasley co- chairs.

  4. Provide 13 Holiday arrangements for display at Wyatt Guest House. The guesthouse is for patients and families of Ellis Fischell Cancer Center in Columbia, MO.  Patients and their families will benefit.  Lynn Birkby, chair

  5. Assist 4-H members from throughout Missouri in the development and installation of a Landscape Design for a Habitat for Humanity Home (4-Habitat Project) in Columbia, MO. Homeowners and 4-H members will benefit.  Alice Havard & Marie Pasley co-chairs.

CONTINUING PROJECTS

  1. Senior Garden Therapy with adult patients at Columbia Manor Nursing Facility in Columbia, MO. Coordinate therapy sessions with staff and garden club members. Compile supplies and programs for sessions. Patients benefit.  Karen Blakemore, chair.

  2. Plant and maintain courtyard garden for beautification and recreation for residents and their families at Bluff Creek Terrace Nursing Home Columbia, MO.  Alice Havard, chair.

  3. Provide floral designs for 13 holidays for lobby of Columbia Public Library for public benefit.  Lynn Birkby, chair.

  4. Recognize a Yard of the Month for one or two gardens in Columbia from May through September, acknowledging outstanding gardens, also write newspaper and CGC newsletter article benefiting the community.  Mary Jane Wheeling and Emily Bonwich, co-chairs.

  5. Maintain the historic butterfly garden around the log cabin at Rock Bridge State Park in Columbia, MO. for public benefit.  Alice Havard, chair.

  6. Clean trash from McGee Park in Columbia, MO. on Clean Up Columbia Day to benefit public.  Carol Notbohm, chair.

  7. Write and mail a monthly informational newsletter to benefit all members.  Karen Blackmore, chair.

  8. Write an educational article quarterly for the CGC Web page and keep web site updated for community information. Julie Fisher, chair.

  9. Participate in Art in Bloom show at the University of Missouri Art/Archeology Museum by designing a floral arrangement for Community benefit. Mary Jane Wheeling, chair.

Standing Committees and member volunteers will do all project work.
