General Information

1.      Timeline covered: January 1 through December 31

 

2.      Due to State Awards Chairman by February 28.

 

3.      Complete listing of CAR awards and Application forms can be found on the CAR website or requested

      from the State Awards Chairman.

 

4.      Submission of award for National consideration eliminates it from competition for CAR awards.

 

5.      Books of Evidence should have won a state award or be of high quality. 

 

6.      Limit of one entry per state per award or per CAR size category.  No club may win same award two years in succession.

 

CAR Requirements for a Book of Evidence

1.      Label on outside cover: name of CAR award, name of club, City and State Federation.

 

2.      Presentation: not to exceed 6 pages, front and back, for a maximum of 12 surfaces; page may be.  Material must be attached to 8 ½” by 11” pages paper placed in top loading sheet protectors enclosed in a soft cover presentation folder. Scrapbooks or oversized books are not acceptable. 

 

3.      Page 1: Name of CAR Award, name of club, number of members on whom NGC and State dues are paid (Regular, Honorary, Life, Associate).

 

4.      Written text: neat, concise, covers all requirements in award description and meets Scale of Points for Format, Content and Substantiating Data. (See requirements specific to award.)

 

5.      Documentation: photocopies are permitted.

 

6.      No Table of Contents or Summary is needed.  (Summary appears on Award Application form.)

 

7.      When the same project is eligible for various awards, submitting exact duplication of books of evidence is not acceptable. 

 

CAR Awards

1.      Civic Development or Improvement – project that benefits, beautifies, etc the community

 

2.      Environmental Concern - project/effort to create environmental conservation/protection awareness

 

3.      Violet S. Thoron - landscape design project or landscape educational program

 

4.      Outstanding Educational Exhibit – relating to NGC objectives and designed to instruct

 

5.      Jean Ladson Outstanding Achievement - for outstanding work not eligible for another CAR award

 

6.      Flower Show Schedule Award – Small Standard, Standard and Advanced Flower Shows

 

7.      Youth Excellence Award - for high accomplishments of Youth Garden Club

 

8.      American Horticultural Soc Regional Perennial Award for Herbaceous Perennial Flower Show class

 

9.      Scholarship-apply to Scholarship Chairman
