The DFGC welcomes all new Life Members. The money goes directly to our youth scholarship so it is a good cause. In addition, it is a nice way to honor a club member. Linda Duncan will have applications available at the next meeting if club presidents would like to take one or more back to their club.
DIMES FOR DELAWARE'S FORESTS
Delaware Federation of Garden Clubs will be cooperating with the Delaware State Forest Service to help reforest Delaware's State Forests. Native tree seedlings will be planted in Delaware's Blackbird State Forest andlor Redden State Forest as part of the regular State of Delaware Forest Restoration Program.
Under a Conservation agreement, the Delaware Forest Service, a division of the Department of Agriculture, will do the plantings and maintenance of these-native trees. The Delaware Forest Service will protect these given trees from fires, insects and disease in the reforested areas of Delaware.
The member Garden Clubs of DFGC, or individual donors, can, participate in this conservation project by contributing $65.00 for an acre of trees. Each $65.00 donation will cover the cost of the trees, the actual planting and the continued maintenance for one acre of trees planted in a Delaware State designated forest.
Your contribution to Dimes for Delaware's Forests can began simply by collecting dimes, or other monetary donations, at your meetings or fund raisers. Individuals may wish to pay tribute, memorialize someone or
an event, by purchasing an acre in their honor. Each donation of
$65.00 will receive a Dimes for Delaware's Forest Certificate made
"In Honor of: " or "In Memory of: " from Delaware Federation of Garden Clubs in cooperation with the Delaware State Forest Service. ' Certificates will be issued according to the information provided on the Dimes for Delaware's Forest application.
This is an exciting conservation project which improves the Delaware environment! DFGC is working to help keep Delaware' forests healthy and perpetuated. We will be able to see where our "di'mes" and dollars are working for the benefit of families and friends. Please help the Delaware Federation of Garden Clubs make this a successful project for future generations.
Our DFGC is doing a little housecleaning and has some flower show properties for sale at most reasonable prices. Check it out.
