Distinctly Delaware
Peach blossom our flower foretells of summer treats
We fill our bellies with ice cream and jellies, and
Of course, her fruit so sweet.
The holly tree with bright berries red
Stands proud in the forest, a crown on its head.
Ladybug, ladybug DON'T fly away
Protect the crops in Delaware; on our farms please
stay.
Our bird of honour the intrepid Blue Hen
Known for its plumage and serving in war with
Our Revolutionary men.
The diamond on our flag; buff colored on a field of blue
For the uniform of our fearless father and first
President, George Washington, we honour you.
Hooray for the boys of summer, Blue Rocks our
Team of choice; watch them play in Wilmington
Cheer them in one voice.
From April to November we eat blue crabs in season
Wooden mallets at the ready, we need not rhyme nor
reason.
Wet lands, meadows, and marshes, the forests, rivers,
and shore
Support an abundance of wildlife.
We hail thee Delaware forever more!
