In the year 1927 the Garden Committee of the Wollaston Woman’s Club was formed to study gardening and horticulture. It was soon felt that there was a need to start a Garden Club and so The Wollaston Garden Club began its long history of involvement to enrich their knowledge of the beauties of nature, enhance their home grounds, plant propagation and the art of flower arranging. Through the years, the Garden Club became involved in many programs on conservation, preservation and civic beautification. Field trips, horticulture study groups, flower arranging classes and Christmas decoration workshops were conducted. They have also been involved with the Museum of Fine Arts “ART IN BLOOM” program. In 1999/2000, the club recognized that in order to continue to attract new members who would otherwise be unable to attend meetings, an evening program should be added. We have now evolved into an organization which evenly splits the meetings between daytime and evening programs, and both attract a high number of participants, with many member participating in both groups.
