The object of The Hot Springs Daylily Society is to unite
all members interested in growing, showing or developing
new varieties of daylilies, and to interest more people in their use,
and appreciation of them.

Meetings

The Hot Springs Daylily Society meets every month except in July when we take a summer break. In June we usually substitute the State meeting for our local meeting.  In January the officers meet in a planning session rather than having a full membership meeting, and in December we have a Christmas party.  There is a business meeting followed by a program at each of the other 8 monthly meetings. Our meetings are held at the National Park Hospital on 1901 Malvern Road in Hot Springs in the Ozark room.  Visitors are welcome.

Education

Programs at meetings emphasize education about daylilies and their environment.

Daylily Plant Sales

Each year the Society sponsors a Daylily Plant Sale on the Second Saturday of September at the Hot Springs Farmers’ Market . A presale pizza preparation party is held on the preceding Friday. Member donate daylilies for the sale. The Society sometimes buys Daylilies for the sale.

The Society may participate in other sales and have a club auction.

Tours

We sometimes do garden tours as we did in May of 2009, and we do a bus trip with an overnight stay at a prominent daylily nursery/farm every few years. The Club is active in projects that introduce more and varied daylilies into our members' gardens including acquisition of plants from nurseries for resale to our members at reduced prices..  We do have a public sale annually and it is scheduled in either June or September. It is always preceded by a prep party where we prepare for the sale and have pizza and fellowship. In 2009 the sale was September 12.  The annual sale is our primary fund raiser.  We also participate in the Garland County Fair with a display in the horticulture building featuring information on daylilies and our club.

Daylily Diversification

The society purchases Daylily varieties for the plant sale and to assist members in diversifying their varieties. When not sold at sales they are offered to members at bargain prices or as door prizes.

Daylily Books and Materials

The Society purchases selected daylily books and materials at group discounts and passes the discounts on to the members who purchase from the Society.
