This design was created for the New England Flower Show in Boston, MA in March 2005.
The Division title was "The Impact of a Woman".
Awards: The design won a Blue Ribbon for the second entry day. At the end of the three entry days, it was awarded the Jeanne-Marie Parkes Award for Best Interpretation of Class title; need not be a blue ribbon. It was also awarded the John Taylor Arms Award given to the blue ribbon entry receiving the highest number of points. Given once during the show and both divisions (Federated and Open) were eligible. At the Annual meeting Joyce received the Cindora Goldberg Award for The Most Outstanding Design entered during the last year. (2004-2005)
Materials: This was a panel design staged on a pedestal 36" high x 30" wide and 18" deep and eligible for Tricolor. The panels were three slightly different shades of creamy beige to blend with the sandy pedestal and background. Joyce tore and adhered cardstock paper to foam core panels. The skull was suspended from a frame behind the panels. The plant material was crested prickly pear cactus from her Arizona home and Cognac anthuriums.
